San Pedro de Alcántara is surrounded by a semicircle of mountains extending from east to west: Sierra Blanca, known as “La Concha”, Sierra del Real also known as Sierra Real del Duque, Sierra Palmitera, Monte Mayor and Sierra Bermeja.

The origins of San Pedro de Alcántara date back to a farm colony founded by the first Marqués del Duero, where settlers had plantations of sugar cane and cotton. Ingeniero Azucarero, an old sugar mill, has been preserved and become a monument as important to the city as The Alcoholera, Roman Baths, Torre Vigía de las Bóvedas, Basílica Vega del Mar, la Iglesia, and Trapiche de Guadaiza.
It is nowadays a tourist enclave made up of luxury residential areas, just 2 km away from Puerto Banús marina and with a broad range of activities and sports to do: golf courses like Club de Golf Guadalmina, leisure parks like Natura Aventura, many restaurants and hiking trails like La Gran Senda, going through San Pedro de Alcántara.
