Marbella East is the Costa del Sol’s rising star. With green, open spaces and blessed with arguably the best beaches this side of Málaga, it is no surprise that the number of people choosing to buy and rent in the region is soaring.
“There is also a clear lack of highrise developments,” says Greenlife Estates’ general manager Massimo Filippa, “which leaves Marbella’s eastern stretch of coastline in a very natural state surrounded by dunes and coastal pine groves.” But this doesn’t mean it is lacking in energy, as the charming chiringuito beach bars attest to.
The famous Nikki Beach club – a must for any fan of luxurious beachside partying – is also found seven kilometres east of central Marbella. Just look for an idyllic poolside environment right by the beach
But if golf is more your game, there are seven excellent courses to choose from. Río Real, Santa Clara, Santa María and Cabopino are full 18-hole courses, while Greenlife Golf, Marbella Golf and Artola Golf have 9 holes to engage.
Heading east from Marbella, the landscape quickly changes to pine and cork trees, and one of the first areas you come to, just five minutes from Marbella centre, is Los Monteros. Home to the Costa del Sol hospital, the region’s largest, Los Monteros is known for its prestigious beachside and mountainside developments. And it must be good as Spain’s very own Hollywood heartthrob, Antonio Banderas, has a beachside villa in the area. “It is a very fashionable area to buy right now,” says Massimo Filippa, “as is neighbouring El Rosario, another one of Marbella East’s success stories.”
“Blossoming over the past decade to become one of the most sought after urbanisations on the Costa del Sol, El Rosario boasts the English International College as well as an exclusive tennis club with first-class facilities.”
A further five minutes drive leads to Elviria, home to the biggest commercial centre in Marbella East. Supermarkets, hairdressers, banks, doctors and much more can be found here, as well as a great variety of bars and restaurants.
Nearby Las Chapas is highly popular for its spacious villas with lots of greenery, natural privacy and inspiring sea views.
For a peaceful beachside spot there is nowhere quite like Marbesa, lauded for its natural environment and immaculately kept streets. Nearby Carib Playa has a similar feel to Marbesa but is somewhat smaller. But the prestigious little marina of Cabopino is another of this area’s gems, with excellent restaurants and the natural and wonderful Artola Dunes behind it.
